The CCH Axcess™ 2024-4.1.1 or CCH Axcess™ report data release introduces a key fix that addresses a long-standing glitch in the write-off allocation calculations within the CCH Axcess Practice module. Our team at Silver Sea Analytics has been tracking these developments, and we’re confident this update will save firms considerable time and frustration.
Previously, a write-off allocated to staff at a specific percentage would incorrectly show as 100% in reports and backend data, leading to skewed staff performance evaluations. It’s good news that CCH Axcess™ fixed this bug for all new data entries. Scroll down to know more about the release now!
Current Issues: Things You Might Already Notice
If your firm uses CCH Axcess Practice, you’ve likely noticed a glitch in write-off allocation calculations for some time. For example, if I post a WIP entry for $100 and allocate 65% for the staff, the system should reflect it correctly.
This situation typically arises when a firm commits to a project that turns out to be more complex or demanding than initially expected. As part of client service, the firm absorbs the extra cost by applying a flexible write-off allocation. This feature is invaluable because it allows the firm to handle unexpected project burdens without negatively impacting the staff’s performance evaluations—a function that is rare even among modern practice management software.
However, despite this intended flexibility, the CCH Staff Realization Allocation report has historically shown 100% allocation to the staff member, which unfairly penalizes the employee’s performance record.
Beyond just the real-time report, the Data Axcess Utility also contains incorrect allocation data in its database.
This inconsistency has caused countless hours to be lost by firms trying to reconcile these discrepancies and generate reports that do not accurately reflect the true state of performance and billing allocations. This flaw has been a significant pain point for many accounting firms using the software, clouding performance metrics and complicating internal reporting. Understanding and addressing this issue is critical to restoring accuracy in staff evaluations and improving financial reporting workflows.
Last month, I reported this issue with CCH, and to my surprise, CCH has released a fix within a month, very shortly after the version 4.1 release. They must have worked on it before I raised the ticket, but regardless of who started the request, the update demonstrates a true upgrade in CCH’s support and development team. Kudos to the CCH team!
Key Fix: Accurate Write-Off Allocation
The CCH Axcess™ 2024-4.1.1 release corrects an error in how the system calculates and reports write-offs. With this update, the system accurately reflects new write-off allocations, including in the Staff Realization Allocation report and the Data Axcess Utility.
Please note that this fix applies only to new data; the historical incorrect data remains unchanged. More importantly, this update still takes a crucial step toward more reliable reporting and evaluation. For more information, please visit our detailed CCH Axcess support page.
Impact on Reporting and Data Integrity
The bug fix in CCH Axcess™ 2024-4.1.1 or the new CCH Axcess™ report data greatly improves the Staff Realization Allocation report and Data Axcess Utility. By providing accurate data, the update helps managers make informed decisions based on true staff performance. The corrected data improves the integrity of custom reports and business intelligence tools using the Data Axcess Utility. This saves firms time and effort previously spent on manual data reconciliation.
